Commonly
known as Arabic spring the revolution that gives a new breath at
North Africa and Middle East supported by young people through social
networks can be now landing in Brazilian land? Young people make use
of social network and the speed of internet to “move mountains”
for their (and the nation) interests, the last tragedy in Brazil –
the fire in a night club which caused over than 230 deads – turned
on the sense of responsibility on the government and the wish to
combat the corruption can be starting a new era on Brazilian
democracy.
Looking
pictures and videos of Arabic revolution of 2010 and 2011 is clearly
perceptive the number of young people. Youth who has courage to face
the dictatorial regime imposed on them before they even had born. It
is clearly to see the exiting on their faces to confront who had put
limits on their lives and freedom. Through the internet the youth was
discussing and building up their faith on a country where people can
choose their way to live, their way to express themselves, their
desires and dreams. The videos, pictures and updates that were given
during the revolution were decisive to put more and more alcohol on
fire of hope, the hope for a new life, a life that nether them are
able to describe. The result is a new political regime in several
countries and the deposition of the others governments.
On
January 27th of 2013 Brazil woke up different, sad, hurt
and desolate. On that night Brazil lost over than 230 young daughters
and sons. On that day parents called desperately to their children to
sure they were safe, but unfortunately for some of them they weren’t.
During that day questions boiled up as hot water, why? Who? How? And
the answer was the tears of people who lost their most loved. But now
government is been questioned for the permission gave to that night
club which had no conditions at all to open. People are making
questions, hungry for justice. It is possible to see the unhappiness
of Brazilians towards their politicians growing. There are many
petitions on internet against the Brazilian Senate President Renan
Calheiros, only on the site Avaaz.com there are at least four with an
amount of over one million people asking for the impeachment of
Renan Calheiros, who is accused by at least three crimes according to
the representative of Republic Mr. Roberto Gurgel.
Brazilians
have dreams, they have wishes and they hope for better times, as a
young democracy with a constitution 24 years old, Brazil still
learning how to use the power of people which is given by democracy.
On 1992 thousands of people went to the streets to impeach the
current president to keep on power, with the courage and the hope of
a young – the same courage and hope that appears on the Arabic
spring 20 years after. Brazilians are learning how to charge the
government, and maybe the changing time is now, a time where people
can actively participate of the decisions of their own country, to
impeach people whose make use of political power for their interest
instead of the interest of the nation but was necessary to lose all
those people in Santa Maria to open the eyes? Do they died for
nothing? It is not possible come back on time, but it is possible to
learn with the past to avoid make the same mistakes. It is time to
Brazilians ask for not only supervision on night clubs, but for a
better life, for a better education, for a better health system, for
a better transportation, for a real freedom! Imagine a country with
healthy people where people can live longer and better, an education
that allow people to choose their own future and not follow where
everybody is going on. This is possible and the choice in on power of
Brazilian people, if they want to have growing in all areas the time
is now. The people on Arabic world did their choice; they choose
freedom and a better future. Brazilians, what choice do you do?
